Catcalling and lewd remarks: What is punishable under the Safe Spaces Act?
Xyriel Manabat vowed to take action against a TNVS driver who made lewd remarks about her online, reigniting conversations on harassment in both physical and digital spaces. Republic Act No. 11313, or the Safe Spaces Act, was enacted in 2019 to protect individuals from gender-based sexual harassment in everyday environment, from streets and workplaces to schools and even online platforms.
