Thank You, Dear God, for Donald Trump
A few days ago, I was jolted by the radio news that Israel, the USA, and Iran were entering a two-week period of a cease-fire to discuss a lasting end to the Israel/USA/Iran war. The effort was led by Red China, Pakistan, and perhaps other nations as well. (RELATED: It May Not Be a Ceasefire. It Might Be a Strategic Pause.)
The terms, so far as are known, would have the USA and Israel ceasing to attack Iran. Iran, for its part, would open the vital oil transit lanes generally called the Strait of Hormuz. This is the hoped-for beginning of a peace plan that would drastically lower the world price of oil and gas. It would also end the ransom process for oil tankers moving from Iran to the rest of the world. (RELATED: The Ceasefire Is the Right Move: Bombs Don’t Break Regimes)
Israel and the USA would substantially lessen their attacks on Iran and whatever allies it has, especially the Houthi guerrillas, who have been armed by Iran and North Korea and Russia and China.
The world oil markets immediately sent up a loud hurrah, and oil prices fell.
May I humbly add a few cautions to this celebration? First, we have been talking to the mullahs who run Iran for about 47 years. If the Iranians have made any promises about war and armaments that they have kept, I am unaware of them.
Inasmuch as the arms we are now talking about include nuclear arms, and inasmuch as we are told that Iran is close to building a workable nuke, it is extremely important that we do not allow Iran to finish the process and actually possess a nuclear device that it could drop on the USA or Israel. “Life or death” is the phrase I would use.
For the decent people of the earth to entrust their survival to Iran is insane.
We can go further: I am unaware of any nation that began a large-scale war and then promised to cease fire indefinitely and did so. We need only go back to Der Führer to learn the lesson well. Here in glorious America, we saw and felt Pearl Harbor to see what was going on.
Nations that live and die by mass killing of their own children are especially untrustworthy.
I hate war. Let’s hope and pray for peace. Maybe a miracle will happen and we will get peace. As of today, about 10 days into it, the terrorists in Southern Lebanon are still shooting. Israel is shooting back, thank God.
And meanwhile, thank you, Lord God, for Donald Trump. He has stood up for decency and he has stood up for peace. Long ago, I researched his behavior in terms of refinancing casinos in Atlantic City and found it wanting. I published what I found in Barron’s. Mr. Trump disagreed sharply, called me on the telephone, and yelled at me. I yelled back.
Now, time has passed. My favorite young person, Julie Nixon Eisenhower, patiently explained the situation. In light of what Julie understood and explained, I changed my tune. I am glad I did. Mr. Trump has turned out to be a leader of men and a savior of America. My dear friend, Judah, has helped me to understand, thank God.
The legacy media will never stop attacking Mr. Trump. And he will never stop loving mankind. I am gloriously grateful.

I am just amazed by my doctor. He is now almost 90. He has been my shrink for 46 years. When I first met him, he was a handsome dog. He was also a “Hollywood swinger,” as one might say. He was a Polo Player, a shooting enthusiast, and a devilishly handsome man. We differed politically, but over the decades, that has changed. Recently, his adored wife entered immortality, and he was devoutly bereft. He still is. But when I saw him last week, he was a new man.
I asked him why he was a bit uplifted. He told me why. “I like living, especially in America. I just plain love living every day in the best place on earth,” he said.
And I agreed heartily. “I plan to soon begin in earnest my next book,” I said. “It’s going to say, over and over, ‘I love America,’ Yes, it has many flaws. Human beings have many flaws. We were very late opening the doors to black Americans. But when I look at America now compared with what America was when I grew up, it’s a miracle. This place has golden doors out for everyone who comes in peace.”
I nodded and added, “I am married to the most wonderful woman on earth.” Her father and mother were saints. Her uncle, Major Bob Denman of Little Rock, was a hero at Chosin. Her father, Col. Dale Denman, Jr. of Prescott, was a hand-to-hand hero against the Nazis at the death camp of Gunskirchen Lager. A BIG hero. Silver Star.
My father’s own father, David Stein, fought in the U.S. Army Cavalry at age 16 in Cavite in Luzon.
I am blessed beyond words to have them in my family.
My wife is upstairs right now watching TV. She is my goddess and I worship her. As I write, I am hearing our Taiwanese next-door neighbors having a barbecue. I’ll write more later.
