DHS: Armed suspect fatally shot by federal agent in Minneapolis; suspect ‘violently resisted’ disarming attempt
The Department of Homeland Security said an armed suspect was fatally shot Saturday by a federal agent in Minneapolis and that the suspect “violently resisted” a disarming attempt.
DHS indicated a firearm and two magazines were recovered.
‘They have encouraged these reckless confrontations and attacks on our agents and officers.’
“At 9:05 AM CT, as DHS law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted operation in Minneapolis against an illegal alien wanted for violent assault, an individual approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun,” DHS said.
“The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted,” DHS added. “Fearing for his life and the lives and safety of fellow officers, an agent fired defensive shots. Medics on scene immediately delivered medical aid to the subject but was pronounced dead at the scene.”
DHS also said “the suspect also had 2 magazines and no ID — this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.”

“About 200 rioters arrived at the scene and began to obstruct and assault law enforcement on the scene, crowd control measures were deployed for the safety of the public and law enforcement,” DHS also said.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said the fatally shot man was 37 years old, the Associated Press reported, adding that the chief “urged people to remain peaceful and not to destroy the city.” O’Hara said there was limited information about the shooting and called on people to leave the area and said it’s “not sustainable,” the AP added.
Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as well as Democrat U.S. Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith of Minnesota seized on the shooting as another opportunity to demand the ouster of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from the Gopher State.
Walz, who indicated that he has spoken with the White House, stated, “Minnesota has had it. This is sickening. The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”
Klobuchar wrote, “To the Trump administration and the Republicans in Congress who have stood silent: Get ICE out of our state NOW.”
“Another catastrophic shooting in Minneapolis by federal agents,” wrote Smith. “ICE must leave now so MPD can secure the scene and do their jobs.”
In the wake of the shooting, the Border Patrol Union suggested a shooting likely would have been defensive and condemned the incendiary rhetoric spread in recent weeks by politicians and the liberal media.
“Border Patrol agents are trained extremely well to protect themselves, their fellow agents, and innocent third parties. When a supposed ‘peaceful’ protester brings a weapon (such as a loaded handgun) and brandishes it, there are going to severe consequences and repercussions,” said the union.
“We have pleaded with and warned the media and the politicians that their irresponsible, hate-filled and false rhetoric is going to get people unnecessarily hurt, or worse, killed when they portray our agents and officers as the aggressors,” continued the union. “They have encouraged these reckless confrontations and attacks on our agents and officers who are performing their lawful duties and enforcing the laws that Congress has put on the books.”

Armed, masked crooks trying to steal car encounter gun-toting homeowner, cops say — and the homeowner isn’t playing around
Police said a Pennsylvania homeowner shot at a pair of would-be car thieves early Tuesday morning, wounding one of them, WPVI-TV reported.
The incident in the 200 block of 2nd Street in Catasauqua took place at 1 a.m., the station said. Catasauqua is a borough in Lehigh County that’s about 15 minutes north of Allentown and just under an hour and a half north of Philadelphia.
‘Good old-fashioned FAFO.’
Investigators told WPVI the homeowner fired the shots at the two males as they were trying to steal a vehicle. The males reportedly were wearing black masks, the station said, adding that police said one suspect had a knife, and the other was carrying a bar.
Both suspects — including the wounded male — ran away, the station said.
Police are searching local hospitals for patients with gunshot wounds, WPVI said.
The homeowner was not injured, the station said.
No charges have been filed, WPVI reported, adding that the incident remains under investigation.
Commenters under WPVI’s Facebook post about the incident gave shoutouts to the homeowner who pulled the trigger:
- “Hey, maybe the thieves will change their minds before they attempt to steal again!??” one commenter observed. “Kudos to the homeowner!!”
- “Good job homeowner, do not charge this man for protecting his property,” another user insisted.
- “I love a story with a happy ending,” another commenter quipped.
- “Good,” another user wrote before adding “get a cap in both their asses.”
- “Not everyone is an easy target, are they[?]” another commenter stated. “Good old-fashioned FAFO.”
Others encouraged the homeowner to get more time at the gun range:
- “Learn from it and just go to the range a few times,” one user suggested. “Practice, practice, practice.”
- “Sounds like the homeowner needs more target practice,” another commenter wrote. “The perp won’t have a chance to repeat the stupidity.”
- “A shame he only wounded one,” another user said. “A couple of head shots would [have] been better.”
- “Excellent!” another commenter exclaimed. “Now, get to the range to make sure next time it’s not just a wound.”

Atlanta police make arrest in connection with homeowner who cops say shot 2 teenage porch pirates
Atlanta police made an arrest late last week in connection with a homeowner who cops said shot two teenage porch pirates.
Police said Rakim Bradford, 34, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Fulton County Jail records indicate Bradford was booked into jail Friday and released Sunday.
Police said officers responded around 3:40 p.m. Thursday to the scene on Celeste Lane SW and found a 16-year-old male who apparently was shot in his right arm, and a 15-year-old male who apparently was shot in his right foot.
The 16-year-old male was taken to a hospital in critical condition, underwent surgery, and is expected to survive his injury, police said, adding that the 15-year-old was alert, conscious, and breathing, and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

Bradford’s arrest warrant indicates the teens saw a delivery van in the townhome complex and then “agreed to steal that package from the front of the residence,” Atlanta News First reported.
However, before the teens were able to make off with the package, Bradford opened the door and shot at them, Atlanta News First added, citing the warrant.
“Don’t go and steal people’s packages,” neighbor Andrew Julian told Atlanta News First. “On the other side of that, what right do you have to defend your own home, and then what decision do you make to defend your own home based on somebody taking an item off of your porch? So, it’s certainly a conversation to be had.”
Nubian Barnes, a neighbor of Bradford’s in the Villages of Cascade Townhome community, told WSB-TV she could understand his frustrations: “I can. But to shoot them. I don’t know. I just don’t feel he should have shot him.”
Barnes added to the station that shooting the teens could have resulted in fatalities: “And then he would have been facing murder charges. All because of a package that probably didn’t cost that much. Definitely didn’t cost a human life.”
Reginald Boudreaux added to WSB that the shooting was “crazy to me. Like, you call the police. That’s what police are for.”
Quin King noted to WSB that the shooting was “just so much over packages. Packages can be replaced,” she said.

Atlanta homeowner shoots 2 juveniles who were taking packages from his porch, police say
An Atlanta homeowner shot two juveniles who were taking packages from his porch Thursday afternoon, police said.
Atlanta Police Chief Darin Schierbaum told WXIA-TV that officers responded around 3:30 p.m. to the 800 block of Celeste Lane in the Mays neighborhood, which is part of the Villages of Cascade complex, after reports of shots fired. The townhomes are down the street from a high school, the station said.

WXIA said a 15-year-old was shot in the foot while a second juvenile was taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police told the station late Thursday night that he made it through surgery and is expected to survive. WXIA said in its video report that the second juvenile was shot in the arm.
Schierbaum told the station that investigators determined the two juveniles were taking packages from a townhome when the homeowner came outside and opened fire.
The homeowner was taken to police headquarters for questioning, WXIA said, and officers executed a search warrant at the residence as part of the ongoing investigation.
“That search warrant is allowing us to gather evidence, is allowing us to gain clarity,” Schierbaum added to the station.
The chief also noted to WXIA: “The Atlanta Police Department takes gun violence very seriously. It’s been the charge of Mayor [Andre] Dickens to address gun violence in our city; that’s why you see a robust response. But anytime a child is injured in our city, we really take that seriously. And we want to make sure we know what’s happening as individuals being held accountable.”

The station added that the shooting is stirring debate over the use of deadly force to protect property.
Atlanta criminal defense attorney Joshua Schiffer, who is not affiliated with the case, told WXIA that people in Georgia have the right to protect themselves and their property, but deadly force must be justified.
“Were these two young men on the doorstep acting in a violent or threatening manner, or were they running away? What juncture did the homeowner decide to discharge their personal weapon using deadly force, and were they justified? That’s going to depend on the facts,” Schiffer told the station. “At that exact moment, was he realistically and reasonably under an apparent threat?”
Police added to WXIA that charges, if any, will depend on evidence and witness statements gathered as part of its investigation.

9-time convicted felon opens fire on man, woman outside Florida home; he allegedly was after money owed to him: Cops
A nine-time convicted felon opened fire on a man and woman outside a Florida home early Sunday morning, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies responded around 2:15 a.m. to a report of two people who had been shot in the 3100 block of 11th Street Court East in Bradenton, officials said.

When deputies arrived, they found a 32-year-old woman with a gunshot wound to her face and a 41-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest, officials said.
Both victims were taken to a hospital, officials said. The woman was later listed in stable condition, and the man’s injury was determined to be minor, officials said, adding that he has since been released.
The sheriff’s office said the shooter fled the scene prior to deputies’ arrival.
An investigation identified the suspect as 26-year-old Exzavion Richardson, officials said, adding that he was located in a vehicle several blocks away and detained during a traffic stop.
Multiple witnesses positively identified Richardson as the man who came to the residence looking for someone he claimed owed him money, officials said.
Witnesses reported that Richardson shot the male victim and then shot the female victim who also was standing outside the residence, officials said.
Richardson is charged with two counts of attempted murder, home invasion robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, officials said. Jail records indicate he’s being held with no bond.
As for his criminal history, court records indicate Richardson has at least two battery convictions and multiple convictions for lewd and lascivious behavior, WFLA-TV reported. Jail records indicate Richardson stands 6’3” and weighs 205 pounds.
Commenters under WFLA’s video report about the shooting were not happy the suspect was back on the streets after so many run-ins with the law:
- “Lock up the judges that released him as accomplices to the crime,” one commenter wrote.
- “The title of this video is exactly what is wrong with our country: ‘9-time convicted felon.’ There should’ve never been a second time,” another commenter noted.
- “Where’s Vlad the Impaler when you need him,” another commenter wondered.
- “Only nine times; that’s practically a clean record,” another commenter stated sarcastically. “I mean, he didn’t kill the woman — just shot her in the face. Give him probation. 10th time is a charm, right[?] He will change smh.”
- “This dude either has a huge growth on his 4head or someone hit a Grand Slam on it,” another commenter observed.
