Exclusive: Republicans pen OMAR Act, targeting lawmakers who have ‘blurred’ ethical lines

Republican lawmakers are pushing new legislation on Capitol Hill aimed at reining in members of Congress who take advantage of campaign finances for personal gain.
Wisconsin Republican Reps. Tom Tiffany and Tony Wied introduced the Oversight for Members And Relatives Act on Friday, known as the OMAR Act, which would prevent candidates’ campaign funds from benefiting their spouses. The legislation would also mandate the disclosure of campaign-related payments made to their immediate family members, according to the bill text obtained exclusively by Blaze News.
‘The American people are sick of it.’
“Public office should never be used to pad a family’s bank account,” Tiffany told Blaze News. “For years, members of both parties have blurred ethical lines by paying their spouses with campaign funds and labeling it ‘campaign work.'”
“The OMAR Act ends this practice and restores integrity to a system that’s been abused for far too long.”

A prime example of these “blurred ethical lines” is none other than Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, who reportedly paid nearly $2.8 million to her husband’s political consulting firm during the 2019-2020 election cycle.
According to Fox News, these payments accounted for nearly 70% of her disbursements during her third quarter, exceeding the total amount all congressional candidates combined paid their immediate relatives during the 2012 election cycle.
“Members of Congress are sent to Washington to represent the interests of their constituents — not to line their spouses’ pockets with campaign funds,” Wied told Blaze News.

“We’ve seen far too many egregious examples of politicians exploiting loopholes for personal gain, and the American people are sick of it,” Wied added. “I’m proud to stand with Rep. Tiffany to introduce the OMAR Act and put a stop to these shady practices once and for all.”

Liz Wheeler’s frame-by-frame takedown: 7 reasons the Ilhan Omar assault was probably fake

On January 27, during a town hall meeting in Minneapolis, a man sitting in the front row suddenly charged at Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and sprayed her with an unknown liquid using a syringe-like device. The alleged suspect, 55-year-old Anthony Kazmierczak, was immediately arrested on suspicion of assault, and Omar, unharmed, was able to continue her event. He faces charges of third-degree assault and is currently detained at the Hennepin County jail.
Some people, however, are convinced this assault was a hoax. They argue that certain details in the video footage indicate Omar staged the attack against herself, perhaps to deflect attention from controversies she’s involved in.
On this episode of “The Liz Wheeler Show,” Liz delivers a frame-by-frame analysis of the attack, dissecting seven details she argues might confirm the growing suspicion that the entire ordeal was manufactured.
Reason 1: Security dropped the ball — or did they?
The first suspicious detail, Liz says, is that Omar’s attacker was “visibly a weirdo.”
“Look at this guy. He is clearly under the influence of something,” she says, rolling video footage from the town hall meeting that captures the up-close profile of the attacker prior to the incident.
At a “town hall event for a sitting member of the U.S. Congress — if there’s a weirdo seated in the front row, the security moves the weirdo. That’s standard procedure,” she adds.
Reason 2: Timing a little too perfect?
“It’s interesting to note that he jumped up right after Ilhan Omar said that Kristi Noem must resign,” Liz says.
“It was as if that was his cue.”
Liz says the timing of the attack makes her wonder: “Is this some kind of stage/hoax/hate crime in order to protect Ilhan Omar from any kind of enforcement of her questionable immigration activities?”
Reason 3: Suspicious head nod?
“There’s also a moment where it appears that Ilhan Omar gives him the head nod, like, ‘Go ahead,”’ Liz says, playing another video clip that captures Omar’s face immediately prior to the attack.
While Liz wants to give her “the benefit of the doubt,” when she closely analyzes the footage, she sees a definitive nod.
“She gave him a nod as if to give him his cue,” she declares.
Reason 4: Zero panic?
“Then, of course, when he does lunge at her and squirts this foul-smelling unknown substance on her, she barely flinches,” Liz notes.
She explains that if Omar was truly unaware of the attack, then surely she would’ve shown concern about the substance — perhaps a “poison chemical agent” — that was just squirted on her. Or perhaps she would involuntarily flinch, assuming that the attacker was wielding a firearm.
“And yet, she barely reacts,” Liz says.
Reason 5: Omar charges toward the danger?
Liz also finds it suspicious that Omar’s initial reaction to being sprayed was to move toward the perpetrator. Video footage captures her immediately storming away from the podium, where she was speaking in his direction.
“Instead of the kind of self-preservation move-away, she lurches towards him,” she scoffs.
Reason 6: Why spare the face?
“It’s also strange, by the way, that he didn’t aim this substance at her face. He aimed it at her sweater,” Liz observes.
If he was a genuine attacker, he likely would’ve aimed to cause true damage and thus wouldn’t have projected the liquid in a “harmless” place, she suggests.
Reason 7: No medical checkup?
The most convincing evidence that Omar staged this attack, however, is that she refused any medical testing, hazmat evaluation, or decontamination at the scene. On the contrary, she demanded to be allowed to finish her speech before examination.
“To decline to even test what this substance is or to go to the hospital and to continue speaking — these are the reasons why … so many people are asking: Is this an authentic attack, or was this a staged attack?” Liz says.
“Well, my answer to that would be this: It’s a good thing that he was arrested because if it was a real attack, he deserves to be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and if it’s a fake attack, if this was some kind of hoax hate crime, then he deserves to be investigated, prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Ilhan Omar under investigation by House Republicans

House Republicans have opened an investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) after reviewing recent financial disclosure filings that show a sharp increase in her household’s reported wealth, according to multiple media reports.
The inquiry is being led by Republicans on the House Oversight Committee, who say they are examining whether Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett, properly disclosed income and business interests as required by federal ethics laws. The review is in its early stages, and no formal allegations of wrongdoing have been announced.
‘There are a lot of questions as to how her husband accumulated so much wealth over the past two years.’
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said the panel intends to pursue answers through congressional oversight channels.
“We’re going to get answers, whether it’s through the Ethics Committee or the Oversight Committee, one of the two,” Comer said.

Omar, a Democrat who represents much of Minneapolis, reported significantly higher asset valuations in her most recent annual disclosure compared with previous years. The filings list increased valuations tied largely to Mynett’s business holdings, including consulting and investment ventures.
Comer questioned the plausibility of the reported increase, saying it raised immediate red flags.
“There are a lot of questions as to how her husband accumulated so much wealth over the past two years,” Comer said. “It’s not possible. It’s not. I’m a money guy. It’s not possible.”
Republicans say the size and timing of the reported increase warrant closer scrutiny. Oversight Committee members have indicated they may seek additional documentation to better understand how the assets were valued and whether the disclosures complied with House ethics rules.
Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), the House majority whip, said the issue goes beyond routine disclosure review and merits formal examination.

“The explosion of wealth, plus the fact that convicted fraudsters helped fund Omar’s campaign, is worth an investigation by the Ethics Committee at the very least,” Emmer said.
The investigation comes amid heightened political attention on financial transparency in Congress and broader scrutiny of fraud cases in Minnesota, though Omar has not been charged or accused of involvement in those cases.
Omar has dismissed the investigation as politically motivated and has denied any wrongdoing. She has previously said her financial disclosures are accurate and that her husband’s business activities are lawful.
A congressional investigation does not itself imply misconduct. Lawmakers frequently review disclosures and request clarifications as part of routine oversight. The House Oversight Committee has not released a timeline for potential hearings or subpoenas.
Democrats have criticized the probe as partisan, arguing that Republicans are targeting a prominent progressive lawmaker. Republicans counter that the inquiry is about transparency and accountability.

Trump blasts mass migration from ‘failed’ foreign countries in fiery rebuke: ‘Minnesota reminds us’

President Donald Trump delivered a scathing rebuke of mass migration, pointing to Minnesota as a cautionary tale.
During his Wednesday speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Trump warned of the dangers and destabilization caused by mass migration. As in many European countries, whose leaders were in attendance, migrants have flooded the United States by the millions, many of them taking advantage of social programs, committing crimes, and failing to assimilate.
‘We have to defend that culture.’
Trump pointed to Minnesota as a prime example of the failures of mass migration, noting the immense fraud and cultural disruption brought about by Somalian immigrants.
“The situation in Minnesota reminds us that the West cannot mass-import foreign cultures which have failed to ever build a successful society of their own,” Trump said.

“We’re taking people from Somalia, and Somalia … it’s not a nation,” Trump said. “Got no government. Got no police. Got no military. Got no nothing.”
Trump went on to criticize Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, a Somalian immigrant.
“She comes from a country that’s not a country,” Trump said. “And she’s telling us how to run America. Not going to get away with it much longer.”

“The explosion of prosperity, in conclusion, and progress that built the West did not come from our tax codes. It ultimately came from our very special culture,” Trump said. “This is the precious inheritance that America and Europe have in common. We share it. We share it, but we have to keep it strong.”
“We have to defend that culture and rediscover the spirit that lifted the West from the depths of the Dark Ages to the pinnacle of human achievement,” Trump said.
